Ian Wright picks Tottenham as title favourites over Chelsea because of Jose Mourinho
Speaking on Premier League Productions, as relayed by the Express, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has picked Tottenham as the favourites for the title over Chelsea because of the Jose Mourinho factor.
Tottenham moved to the top of the Premier League table after playing out a goalless draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening. Following the result, we are level on points with reigning champions Liverpool in second and two above third-placed Chelsea.
Wright, speaking on his thoughts about the contenders for the title among the two teams, seemed to pick Chelsea at first. (h/t Express)
“It’s a tough question. If I had to choose somebody, I would probably at the moment say Chelsea. Not just because of my Arsenal affinity, but I just feel that they just might have a little bit more at the moment.”
However, after giving it a little more thought, the ex-Arsenal forward changed his mind, saying that Tottenham have the edge, thanks to Jose Mourinho. (h/t Express)
“But then they’ve got Mourinho as the manager at Tottenham. Do you know what? I’m probably going to change my mind and go with Tottenham. I think so, yeah.”

As things stand, it is too tight at the top of the Premier League table. However, we are still not even one-third of the way into the season. So, the Tottenham players just need to ignore all the talk and focus on the performances and the results will come.
But, like Wright says, it does give us a huge advantage to have a manager like Mourinho, who has been there and done that.
