Tottenham eyeing January swoop for Sassuolo star Gian Marco Ferrari
According to a report from 90min.com, as carried by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have earmarked Sassuolo defender Gian Marco Ferrari as a target for the upcoming January transfer window.
The 28-year-old Ferrari has spent his entire professional career in Italy, having had stints with Crociati Neceto, Fiorenzuola, Renate and AS Gubbio before joining Parma in 2014. The centre-back was immediately loaned out to Crotone where he spent a season before making the transfer permanent.
One year later, Ferrari joined Sassuolo, initially on loan, before making the move permanent in 2017. During his time at the club, the Italian has racked up 65 appearances, scoring and assisting four goals apiece. The 28-year-old has become a regular at the Mapei Stadium in the past couple of seasons, after an impressive loan spell at Sampdoria in 2017/18.
Ferrari has been an ever-present at the back for the Neroverdi this season as they sit third in the league table, having lost just one game so far. And this has seemingly alerted Tottenham Hotspur, who are now looking to sign the Italian. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham strengthened the defence in summer with Joe Rodon arriving from Swansea City. However, with Toby Alderweireld picking up an injury and Davinson Sanchez seemingly not favoured by manager Jose Mourinho, bringing in a new centre-back in the winter window would make sense.
It is claimed that Mourinho is interested in bringing in a left-footed centre-back within the price range of transfer, with Daniel Levy not prepared to sanction more than that in January. This has made Ferrari a viable target for Spurs. (h/t Football.london)

Ferrari was linked with the likes of AS Roma, Napoli as well as Everton this past summer. The 28-year-old has been in impressive form and can prove to be a bargain signing for us, should we do act on the interest.
