Jose Mourinho praises Tottenham Hotspur stars Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Son Heung-Min after LASK draw
According to Football.london, both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Son Heung-Min were given a positive appraisal by Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho after the 3-3 draw away to LASK.
It was a disappointing night for Spurs, who conceded deep into stoppage time to drop two points. Mourinho was not happy with his players, who he felt lacked motivation for the match.
Two players, however, who came in for praise were Son and Hojbjerg. The former got onto the scoresheet while the latter continued to impress in midfield.
Despite the draw, the point sees us qualify for the next round of the Europa League. However, they managed to do so on a night where they were the second-best team on the pitch.
“Hojbjerg and Sonny, without them I don’t think we would have a positive result.”
While calling the draw a positive result is being charitable, there is no doubt in Mourinho’s mind that Hojbjerg and Son were the key players who helped turn a bad performance into something salvageable.
Consistent performers
The Spurs boss appears to have a soft spot for his two players. He once again referred to them by name while talking about our last group J fixture against Royal Antwerp.
“Son and Pierre that are players that starting every match, are examples of the guys that it doesn’t matter where, it doesn’t matter the competition, they are there and they are in front of the team every time.”
Mourinho admitted that both the players ensure they give their best irrespective of the competition or opposition. Hopefully, this will serve as a wake-up call to the players who failed to reach the required levels yesterday.
