Glenn Hoddle has his say on Tottenham drawing Wolfsberger in Europa League
As reported by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has claimed that the club has been handed a dream draw in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32.
Tottenham finished as group winners following the 2-0 win against Royal Antwerp in the final group stage fixture last week. And, having sealed top spot, Jose Mourinho & co. were handed a rather favourable draw, as we will be facing Austrian outfit Wolfsberger in the first knockout stage.
Considering the likes of Benfica and Real Sociedad could have been drawn against us, Hoddle is of the opinion that fans and Mourinho will be happy with the draw.

“Imagine every Spurs fan and Jose out there thinking we couldn’t have picked that – no disrespect to them – they’ll go there and win that.”
Further adding, the former Tottenham manager insisted that the draw would mean Mourinho can protect his regulars and use a second-string to side while using his heavy-hitters from the bench if need be.
“I think it’s key, he could go into this tie playing what I’d call the second team at the moment and maybe this second team may be good enough to go deep into the tournament. I think for this tie it’s a blessing in some ways that he can play this team that we saw in the last game against Antwerp. He can play that team and protect the Premier League side.”

The draw is certainly a favourable one for Tottenham. But that doesn’t mean that we need to take the opponents lightly. With the knockouts still a while away, we now need to focus on the task at hand as we take on Liverpool on Wednesday.
