Michael Owen believes Harry Kane must be frustrated in his new role under Jose
Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Daily Mail), former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has claimed that Tottenham star Harry Kane must be ‘frustrated’ in his new role under Jose Mourinho.
The change in tactics under Jose this season has seen Kane drop deeper to act as a creative forward rather than play as an out-and-out No. 9 at the top of the pitch. And Owen, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2001, is of the opinion that Tottenham aren’t playing to the England captain’s strengths at the moment. (h/t Daily Mail)
“If I was Harry Kane I would certainly be frustrated thinking ‘we play deep, we don’t get enough crosses in and we’re not playing to my strengths’.”
Owen went on to add that things are rosy as results have been going our way but doubts could creep in if that were to change. (h/t Daily Mail)
“The more you win games and see yourself up the top of the table then the problems in your mind about how you’re playing or how much of the ball you’re getting probably disappears. But if results don’t go well then all of a sudden, as a top centre forward, you’re thinking ‘hang on a minute, I’m not built for this counter-attacking style’.”

Despite Owen’s comments, there is no denying that Kane has been playing some of his finest football this season. The striker himself has admitted so. And, without a question, we will need him to keep playing at this level for the rest of the term if we are to win a trophy.
