Man United star Scott McTominay opens up on relationship with Jose Mourinho
Speaking to Stadium Astro, as relayed by the Express, Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has given an insight into his relationship with Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho spent an eventful two and a half years as the manager at Manchester United where he won the League Cup and the UEFA Europa League.
Often criticised for the lack of faith he shows in young talent coming through the academies, the Portuguese tactician handed McTominay his debut at Old Trafford and afforded him plenty of game time before getting the sack at the club.
And the Scotsman, speaking about his equation with Jose, has insisted that he has only good things to say about his former mentor. (h/t Express)
“Me and Jose got on really well. I feel like that is common knowledge now and everyone knows that. I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about Jose Mourinho. He’s not my manager at the minute and obviously Ole is amazing as well, so they are two people I’ve got to thank a lot for.”
However, now in rival corners, the Scotland international claimed that he doesn’t enjoy watching the Tottenham boss win now.
“But he’s the manager of Tottenham, I want him to lose now. That’s the way it is, it’s the dog eat dog world of football.”

Mourinho has shown similar faith in Japhet Tanganga at Tottenham as he did in McTominay at Manchester United. And the young defender, barring his injury-riddled spell, has largely repaid the manager’s faith in him. Hopefully, the Portuguese unearths a few more talents from the youth ranks and backs them in the coming years.
