Darren Bent backs Jose Mourinho to lead Tottenham to success
Speaking to the EFL official website ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has backed Jose Mourinho to lead the club to success in the competition.
The Portuguese tactician took over the reins at the club back in November last year and has turned things around quite a bit. Having just about finished sixth in the last season, we have been turned into genuine challengers for the Premier League title.
In addition, Mourinho has also led us to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as well as the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, where we will be facing Stoke City on Wednesday. Speaking ahead of the game Bent has hailed the change that Mourinho has brought about at the club during his time.
“I think Jose Mourinho has gone into Spurs and just changed everyone’s mindset.I think Mourinho has given these players genuine belief that with him in charge they can get over the line and achieve things that he squad is capable of.”
Further elaborating on our chances of winning a trophy this season, Bent insisted that Mourinho is the right man to end the club’s long-running trophy drought, by leading us to the Carabao Cup success.
“I think if anyone is going to help them win this competition, it’s going to be him this season. If you were looking for a manager who could get the job done and who has got history with the League Cup, it’s Jose Mourinho.”
