Tottenham leading the chase to sign Leicester City outcast Demarai Gray

According to 90min.com (h/t Brighton & Hove Independent), Tottenham Hotspur are leading the likes of Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace in the race to sign out-of-favour Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.

The 24-year-old Gray joined Leicester from Birmingham City back in 2016. However, he hasn’t quite been able to establish himself as a regular, despite spending almost five years at the club.

The 2019/20 campaign saw him being used sparingly by manager Brendan Rodgers. Indeed, he started just eight games across all competitions. And his fortunes have dwindled further this season, as he has played just one time across all competitions for the Foxes. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Tottenham had been linked with a move for the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window. However, a move never materialised. But, the Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers fueled speculations of an impending exit for Gray recently stating that it might be time for him to start anew somewhere else.

Now, it is being claimed that the 24-year-old could be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium in the January transfer window. This has sparked interest from a host of clubs like Crystal Palace, Southampton and Everton. However, it is Tottenham who are said to be the front-runners to land the winger. Despite his struggles at Leicester, Gray is a talented individual with plenty of potential. Considering that Gareth Bale hasn’t made the kind of impact that was expected and Steven Bergwijn also going through a dry patch in front of goal, bolstering the attack with a player who can be available in bargain deal could prove to be a good move.
