Dele Alli in the dark over latest matchday squad snub against Leicester
According to the Daily Mail, Dele Alli has been left in the dark and has been offered no explanation for his latest omission from the Premier League matchday squad in the Leicester City game.
Tottenham faced off against the Foxes in the league at home on Sunday afternoon. And when Mourinho named the squad, there were a lot of eyebrows raised as Alli’s name was missing. This, in spite of teams being allowed to name nine substitutes on the bench as per the new rules.
Soon after, it was revealed that injury wasn’t the reason behind Alli’s omission from the squad. Now, as per the report, the 24-year-old has been given no explanation over the decision by manager Jose Mourinho, leaving him baffled.
Alli hasn’t been a regular in the league this season. However, the England international made substitute appearances in the draw against Crystal Palace and the Liverpool defeat and it seemed like he was slowly working his way back into the manager’s plans.
However, the latest omission against Leicester, when there were nine substitutes on the bench and despite him being fit, casts doubts on his future at the club. It has been claimed that Paris Saint-Germain, who had tried to sign the former MK Dons midfielder in the summer, could move for him again in January. (h/t Daily Mail)
