Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho criticises players for ‘lack of ambition’ against Wolves
As reported by the Independent, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hit out at his players for their ‘lack of ambition’ in the weekend clash against Wolves.
Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves on Sunday at the Molineux as Romain Saiss cancelled out Tanguy Ndombele’s first-half goal with a late header in the 86th minute.
Tottenham had started the game well, going up within one minute of kick-off and had created a number of chances in the first half-hour. However, it was pretty much all Wolves from that point on as Jose Mourinho’s players sat back and hardly showed any sort of attacking intent.
Wolves ramped up the pressure in the second half, as Tottenham continued to sit deep. This eventually cost them the victory. It is not the first time that this sort of situation has hurt us, with us conceding late goals against the likes of Crystal Palace and Liverpool as well.
And Mourinho, who was not pleased with the result, has criticised his players for not showing enough ambition and not seizing the opportunities.
“We are frustrated with the result. We had control of the game, but we had 89 minutes to score more goals and we didn’t. It was not just about not scoring goals, it was also about not being dangerous and not being ambitious. For me, that’s the problem.”

Sitting back just after taking a one-goal lead is just not good enough in the Premier League. We are now four games without a win in the league. Something needs to change quickly if we are to continue to push for the title. Up next is a London derby against newly-promoted Fulham.
