Carlos Vinicius needs to be given more chances at Tottenham, claims Louis Saha

Speaking to Ladbrokes, as relayed by Football.london, former Premier League star Louis Saha has claimed that Tottenham need to give more chances to on-loan striker Carlos Vinicius.

The 25-year-old joined Tottenham from Portuguese outfit SL Benfica on a season-long loan in the summer. However, he has had to bide his time for opportunities in the starting XI owing to the form that Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Nevertheless, when given a chance, Vinicius has managed to impress. Till date, the Brazilian has managed just six appearances for us across all competitions. But, he has contributed with three goals and assists each.

And Louis Saha is of the opinion that the striker needs to be given more game-time as Tottenham cannot be over-reliant on Kane and Son for goals.

“I don’t think that they have used Carlos Vinicius enough this season, even in a competition like the League Cup. It’s something that needs to be addressed because if Kane and Son aren’t scoring, you don’t know where your goals are going to come from. I think they need to give Vinicius more of a chance during the rest of the season.

“Yes, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have been exceptional this season so it’s hard to get another striker into the team, but you have to find a way of maintaining the form and confidence of players that aren’t playing.”

Saha is right in saying that Vinicius needs to be given more opportunities. The festive period would have been the ideal time for Jose Mourinho to rotate his options. However, the Brazilian is a doubt for the game against Fulham due to an injury.

Hopefully, it is nothing serious and the 25-year-old will be back in action soon enough.
