Moussa Sissoko insists Mourinho has filled Tottenham stars with trophy belief
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has claimed that manager Jose Mourinho has made the squad believe that they can win trophies this season.
The Frenchman, who has been with the club since 2016, has grown into an indispensable member under Mourinho over the past year. The 31-year-old was on the scoresheet on Tuesday as Tottenham beat Brentford in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup to book a ticket to the Wembley.
And, the former Newcastle United midfielder has insisted that Mourinho has filled the entire squad with the belief that they can win titles and trophies at the club.
“He gives us that belief, we just need to trust him because he won many titles with every team where he’s been. He knows how to win. We need to believe in what he says, give our best on the pitch, to fight and if we do it then we will be close to doing something good.”
Sissoko further added that it was important that the team believed in itself, after having been close to winning trophies, but not crossing over the line on a couple of occasions in the recent past.
“It’s so important. This club deserves it first of all, this club has been waiting for a trophy for many years and we’ve been close to winning something but we didn’t for different reasons. This season we can still win something. We’ve a good squad, a strong squad with a lot of quality and need to believe in ourselves. Hopefully, we can bring one or even more trophies.”
