Tottenham ace Jack Clarke in demand among EFL Championship clubs

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jack Clarke is a loan target for a host of EFL Championship clubs including the likes of Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Swansea City.

The 20-year-old joined Tottenham from Leeds United in July 2019 for a fee in the region of £10m plus add-ons. He joined after enjoying a breakthrough season in 2018/19 at Elland Road and was immediately loaned back to the club.

However, a lack of game time under Marcelo Bielsa saw Tottenham recall him from Leeds and loan him out to QPR. The Englishman didn’t play much for the R’s either, taking the field on just seven occasions before the 2019/20 season ended.

Back at Tottenham, Clarke has featured just two times across all competitions for the first-team this season. In total, he has seen just 26 minutes of on-field action. However, he has made eight appearances for the reserves in the Premier League 2, scoring two goals and setting up one more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Clarke is said to have impressed Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff this term. But, given his lack of playing minutes, the club would be open to letting him leave on loan for the rest of the season.

This has led to a flurry of interest in the youngster. Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Swansea are all keen on signing him up. In addition, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City are also said to be monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation. (h/t Sky Sports)

At his age, it is important that Clarke gets first-team minutes to ensure that he continues to develop and fulfil his potential. Thus, a loan move to a Championship club would serve the youngster well.
