Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Aston Villa postponed; set to face Fulham on Wednesday
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa has been postponed, with the club now set to face Fulham instead on Wednesday.
Tottenham were scheduled to face Aston Villa this midweek in the league. However, the Villans have seen fourteen members test positive for the coronavirus last week. All first-team members and staff, including manager Dean Smith, were forced to self-isolate.
This resulted in them fielding a team comprising of their U18s and U23s in the FA Cup clash against Liverpool last week. Now Villa’s Premier League game against Tottenham has also been pushed back. Instead, Jose Mourinho & co. will now host London rivals Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday.
Spurs were initially scheduled to play Fulham on December 29, but that was postponed as well, after several cases of Covid in the Cottagers’ squad.
Now, with another of our game getting called off, the Premier League has moved the Fulham game to Tuesday in order to avoid a fixture pile-up later down the season. The club released a statement confirming the same.
“We can confirm that our fixture against Aston Villa, due to take place on Wednesday 13 January, has been postponed. Our previously postponed home fixture against Fulham, originally scheduled for 30 December 2020, will now take place on the same evening (Wednesday 13 January), kick-off 8.15pm on Amazon Prime Video.
“Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur sends their best wishes to Aston Villa for a safe and speedy recovery to all those who are affected.”
