Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho responds to Nicolas Gonzalez rumours
According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has issued a response over rumours of the club being interested in the VfB Stuttgart winger Nicolas Gonzalez.
The 22-year-old has been with the German outfit since 2018, having joined from Argentinos Juniors. Having endured a difficult start to life at his new club, Gonzalez has burst into life over the past twelve months or so.
The winger played a key role in Stuttgart’s promotion to Bundesliga this season and has been in top form in the German top-flight as well. So far, Gonzalez has bagged five goals and two assists in 10 league matches. The winger has also scored twice in five games for the Argentine national team.
Gonzalez’s development has put him on the radars of a host of top clubs in Europe, including Tottenham and Juventus. The Athletic reported that preliminary talks over a move for the Argentine were being held.
Mourinho was quizzed about the same during his press conference on Tuesday afternoon. However, the Tottenham manager was coy in his response, refusing to give anything away.
“Discussions with who? Not with me.”
Tottenham already have a plethora of wide players at their disposal. However, it must be noted that none of Steven Bergwijn, Gareth Bale and Erik Lamela have been in good form. Lucas Moura, too, has blown hot and cold. This has left Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to do all the heavy lifting in attack.

So, bringing in someone like Gonzalez, who has been in good form of late, can be a game-changer in the business end of the season. It, however, remains to be seen if a move for the Argentine does take place this month.
