Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke poised to join Stoke City on loan
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jack Clarke is in talks to join EFL Championship side Stoke City on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old joined Tottenham from Leeds United in July 2019 for a fee in the region of £10m plus add-ons. He joined after enjoying a breakthrough season in 2018/19 at Elland Road and was immediately loaned back to the club. However, a lack of game time under Marcelo Bielsa saw Tottenham recall him from Leeds and loan him out to QPR.
Clarke didn’t play much for the R’s either, featuring just seven occasions before the 2019/20 season ended. Back at Tottenham, Clarke has featured just three times across all competitions for the first-team this season. This includes an appearance in the FA Cup tie against Marine from the bench. With his chances unlikely to improve for the rest of the campaign, a number of Championship clubs have taken an interest in signing him on loan for the rest of the season. Now, it is being claimed that Stoke City are leading the race to land the 20-year-old. (h/t Daily Mail)
Given the juncture at which Clarke is in, in his career, it is important that he gets regular playing minutes. And a loan move would certainly help him continue to develop and reach the potential expected of him.
