Wycombe Wanderers manager sends a message to Jose Mourinho ahead of FA Cup clash

Speaking to the club’s official website, Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has sent Jose Mourinho a message ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Tottenham.

Tottenham qualified to the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating eighth division side Marine AFC 5-0 away from home this past weekend.

Following the victory, Spurs have been drawn against Wycombe for the next stage, with another away trip scheduled, this time to Adams Park. And their manager Ainsworth seems very excited to face off against Jose Mourinho.

“It is going to be awesome. Jose Mourinho, what a manager, what a guy and it will be an absolute honour to manage against him and hopefully coming to Wycombe it will be a bit tougher than it would be for them at home.”

Tottenham had played Wycombe in the FA Cup at exactly this stage in the 2017/18 season. The lower league side gave us quite the scare that time, having taken a 2-0 lead at half-time and being ahead 3-2 before Dele Alli and Son Heung-min scored late goals to earn a 4-3 win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

“We thought we had a draw at 3-3, we thought we were bringing them back to Wycombe, but we will have to get the job done this time. I’m not saying we can do the job, I’m saying it will be a fantastic game and we are really looking forward to it.”

Tottenham have already qualified to the finals of the Carabao Cup. And, it is important that we follow a similar path in the FA Cup as well, starting with a win over Wycombe. Hopefully, Mourinho’s men don’t leave it too late like the previous time we faced them.
