PSG and Pochettinho step up efforts to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham

According to The Guardian, French champions PSG are ramping up their efforts to land Dele Alli from Tottenham as manager Mauricio Pochettino eyes a reunion.

The 24-year-old England international has found himself on the periphery of the Tottenham first-team this term, with manager Jose Mourinho not calling upon him on a regular basis. Alli has made only four Premier League appearances this season, totalling 74 minutes.

Having been playing a bit-part role for a while now, Alli has been heavily linked with an exit from the club, with PSG said to be interested in signing the former MK Dons man.  The rumours have only intensified after former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino took over the reins at the Ligue 1 club earlier this month.

It is claimed that the Argentine tactician has made the England international his top target in the ongoing transfer window. And PSG are now set to up their efforts to try and capture his signing before the end of the month.

Tottenham, though, are reluctant to let Alli leave midway through the season. Given that we are alive in all four competitions, every player of the squad will be needed in what has been and will continue to be a hectic campaign. Losing Alli, thus, could deprive us of quality squad depth in the attacking midfield area.

Alli, though, is hoping to get more playing minutes ahead of the European Championships that will take place in the summer later this year.

More discussions will take place between the two clubs in the coming days. And it remains to be seen what the immediate future holds for Alli.

Considering his performance in the FA Cup tie against Marine, and Mourinho’s reaction in the aftermath, there remains a glimmer of hope that the Englishman can still work his way back into the side.
