Jose Mourinho eyeing Angel Di Maria reunion at Tottenham Hotspur

According to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur have contacted PSG superstar Angel Di Maria over the possibility of a transfer in the summer window.

Di Maria has been one of the top wingers in the game over the past decade. The 32-year-old played three years under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid and the Portuguese tactician is now eyeing a reunion with the Argentine.

Di Maria moved to the Premier League in 2014, joining Manchester United. But after enduring a torrid year, he left in 2015, signing for PSG. Since joining the Parisian outfit, Di Maria has made close to 250 appearances, scoring 86 goals and setting up 101 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Di Maria has been in good form in the ongoing campaign, registering 4 goals and 9 assists in 20 games in all competitions. However, the winger’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. And, it is believed that he will bring an end to his time at the club this summer.

Di Maria already has a contract offer from Juventus. However, Tottenham are hoping to beat the Serie A champions to his signing and have already made contact with the 32-year-old.

At 32, Di Maria still has plenty left to offer at the highest level. Signing someone of his quality on a free transfer should be a no-brainer, despite his past struggles in England. He is a player Mourinho knows well and the pair tasted a lot of success together.

With Gareth Bale unlikely to stay beyond this season, a move for Di Maria in the summer can be a game-changer.
