Tottenham Hotspur do not want to sell Erik Lamela in the January transfer window
Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tottenham Hotspur do not intend on selling Erik Lamela in January.
Earlier this month, a report by Eurosport claimed that the club would be willing to listen to offers for Lamela.
But now, it is claimed that Spurs are interested in keeping the Argentine winger at the club this month. Moreover, the player also wants to stay and his focus is on his current club at the moment. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
The 28-year-old winger is respected by Serie A clubs, but it seems like he will still be at Spurs at the end of the winter transfer window.
Lamela joined Spurs from AS Roma in the summer of 2013. In the seven-and-a-half years since then, he has made 235 appearances for the club in all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Lamela staying is positive news for the club
The former Roma winger has failed to make himself a regular fixture in the team in recent times. Especially this season, he has struggled for starts under Jose Mourinho.
The Argentine forward has made just 2 league starts this season which has been marred by injury. Even when he is fit, he has a fair bit of competition at the club.
The Spurs boss has Steven Bergwijn, Gareth Bale, Son Heung-min, and Lucas Moura at his disposal to start on the wings. Nevertheless, the news of him potentially staying at the club this season should be seen as positive by the fans.
