Tottenham Hotspur stance on Wigan Athletic striker Kyle Joseph revealed

A report by football.london states that Tottenham Hotspur would not enter a bidding war for Wigan Athletic forward Kyle Joseph if other clubs enter the fray for him.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer, but Wigan would be entitled to compensation. Joseph is a player that Tottenham have been interested in recently.

However, the Lilywhites are not the only club linked with him. Premier League club Sheffield United, along with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, are all linked with the forward. (h/t football.london)

And if any of the three clubs do enter the market for Joseph formally, Spurs are expected to not be a part of any resulting bidding war. This is due to the club’s faith in two young strikers.

18-year-old Troy Parrott is one name that impressed through the youth ranks in recent years. He is currently on loan to Championship side Milwall. The other youngster that has excited the club with his performances is 16-year-old Dane Scarlett.

The teenager has scored 20 goals in 13 reserve games this season and even made his UEFA Europa League debut with the senior side in December 2020.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Kyle Joseph but are relaxed in their pursuit as they have Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett to fall back on.

Spurs are not devoid of strikers in their academy team, as well as the senior side. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are a lethal pairing upfront, while Carlos Vinicius is a good option to bring off the bench until his loan spell ends in the summer.

Moreover, Parrott and Scarlett would also need some space for development, and their minutes with the club could be affected by the club signing Joseph.

Hence, even though the club is interested Joseph, it makes sense why they would not be overly keen on getting a deal over the line.
