PSG still hopeful of signing Dele Alli on loan from Tottenham
According to The Athletic’ David Ornstein (subscription required), Ligue 1 giants PSG still remain hopeful of working out a deal to sign Tottenham outcast Dele Alli on loan this month.
The 24-year-old midfielder finds himself out of favour under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham this season. Indeed, the Portuguese tactician has been reluctant to use Alli on a regular basis, leading to intense speculations over his future throughout this month.
PSG have been keen on signing Alli since the summer and had three approaches turned down by Spurs for the England international in the summer. However, with his fortunes not improving, they have once again made him a target in the January window.
The interest has only intensified after former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino took over the reins at Parc des Princes earlier this month. It is claimed that the Argentine boss is keen on reuniting with Alli in France. (h/t The Athletic)
Alli himself is intent on playing football regularly and Mourinho, too, is believed to be open to the midfielder leaving the club on a temporary basis. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is still undecided as to what to do with the former MK Dons man’s situation.
Levy is said to be a huge admirer of Alli and any possibility of him sanctioning a permanent transfer or a loan deal with an option to purchase are non-existent. However, the Spurs head honcho could be open to the prospect of loaning him out till the end of the season. Any decision, however, is likely to come late in the transfer window. (h/t The Athletic)
