Jermaine Jenas believes Tottenham will not sack Jose Mourinho midway in the season

According to Football.london, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has claimed that it is unlikely that the club will sack Jose Mourinho midway through the season.

Tottenham have lost their last three Premier League games in a row against Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea. The run of results has left the club irrelevant in the Premier League title race, while our top-four hopes are also in jeopardy.

This poor run coupled with insipid performances on the field has led to pressure getting cranked up on the manager, with his tactics being questioned.

Jenas, though, has insisted that Tottenham are unlikely to axe Mourinho midway through the season, owing to the finances that could be involved, coupled with the lack of accomplished names to take over.

“I can’t see Spurs sacking him. We are in the middle of a pandemic, no one has got any money and his contract is probably worth £15million a year.

“That’s why I don’t think he is going anywhere and when I say I think he will find a way, it is probably because I am thinking there is probably not going to be another option, there is not another manager waiting out there for the job.”

The ex-Tottenham midfielder further added that Mourinho can still point towards the fact that he has taken the team to a cup final while keeping the team alive in two more competitions.

“And let’s be honest, they are in a League Cup final [against Manchester City], and he could get them to a Europa League final, or an FA Cup final, and that will be Jose’s argument between now and the end of the season.”
