Report – How the FA Cup quarterfinal draw affects Tottenham’s fixture arrangement in the Premier League

Tottenham could face a congested list of fixtures despite FA Cup exit

Tottenham were knocked out of a competition for the first time this season on Wednesday night following their 5-4 defeat to Everton in the FA Cup but fixtures could still pile up for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Jose Mourinho’s side are still well and alive in the Europa League and have an outside chance of winning the Premier League. Most important of all, they face off against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final later this year.

One advantage of being knocked out of the FA Cup would have been a more manageable schedule. However, according to Football.london, it would appear that is far from the case.

In fact, Tottenham’s hectic season could be thrown into jeopardy, thanks to the clubs still in the FA Cup. Spurs could face the unwelcome prospect of two more rearranged games depending on who progresses to the latter stages of the competition.

Following all the FA Cup fifth-round ties now completed, the competition resumes from the quarter-final stage on the weekend of Saturday, March 20. Spurs are scheduled to play Southampton that weekend.

The Saints defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 and are now in the last-8 of the FA Cup. This could very well force the Premier League to allocate fresh dates for our league fixture against the Saints.

Tottenham face Everton on the weekend of April 17. This fixture could also be rescheduled if the Toffees make it to the semifinal stage of the FA Cup. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been drawn against Manchester City and could have their work cut out in making the last four. That could very well work in our favour.

There is still much to be played for this season and Spurs are well within with a shot at ending the campaign on a high.
