Ezri Konsa urged to snub Tottenham in favour of Aston Villa stay
Speaking to HITC (h/t Birmingham Live), former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa to snub Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a stay at Villa Park.
The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic and had a spell at Brentford before joining Villa in the summer of 2019. Since arriving at the club, Konsa has become a mainstay at the back for Dean Smith’s side, playing a key role in their impressive start to the season.
His impressive growth in the Premier League has seemingly put him on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur as well as reigning Premier League champions Liverpool. (h/t The Athletic)
Heskey, however, has urged Konsa to snub a move to Tottenham, a club that he grew up supporting, and continue his progress at Aston Villa instead. (h/t Birmingham Live)
“The only thing I would say is that Villa look like a team on the up. Tottenham have got some wonderful players who are not playing as a team – it’s very, very individual. If you’re looking on paper, they should be in the top four but paper doesn’t mean anything. They’re in a bit of a rut at this time.”

With Toby Alderweireld not getting any younger and the rest of the defence also failing to convince, bringing in a new centre-back in the summer would be a smart move. And Konsa, given how he has adapted to Premier League football and has age on his side, would be a good signing.
It, however, remains to be seen if Spurs do make a move for him in the summer.
