Graeme Souness: Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane would thrive at Real Madrid or Barcelona
According to The Times (Subscription Required), Graeme Souness believes Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane would walk into some of the top teams in European football.
A serial winner during his time with Liverpool, Souness is well aware of what makes a championship-winning team. He believes the Spurs ace has all the necessary qualities to dine at the top table.
Despite leading Tottenham’s scoring charts for a number of years now, Kane is yet to win a single trophy in his career. Currently, in his prime, time is running out for the English ace.
Souness has now questioned if Kane will fancy a move away if Tottenham fails to land a trophy this season. Jose Mourinho’s side take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final later this year and are also alive in the Europa League.
“If Tottenham fail to pick up silverware, then Harry Kane should be having a word with his agent about new employment.”
Souness has backed to consider his options even if Spurs beat City for the Carabao Cup. He believes the Spurs squad may not be able to do justice to his individual masterclasses.
“Even if they beat City, he might still want to think about leaving. He turns 28 in the summer, and time is running out for Spurs to deliver collectively on what his individual efforts deserve. And those individual efforts have been world class.”
No shortage of suitors!
He believes the striker, one of the best in the business can have his pick of teams. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Manchester City could prove to be potential destinations if he makes his wishes known.
“Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City – he would walk into the starting line-up of any of those teams.”
Kane has so far scored an impressive 214 goals in 324 appearances for Spurs and 32 goals in 51 games for England. He is already ninth on the list of top goalscorers in the Premier League and has been widely tipped to surpass Alan Shearer’s record tally of 260. (h/t Metro)
Whether he will eventually do it at Tottenham remains to be seen.

Souness is right in stating that Kane’s efforts deserve the success that has so far not been forthcoming. Tottenham do have the opportunity to end their 13-year-wait for a trophy this season and should do what they can to achieve it. Doing so would only act as a foundation for the club to garner further glories.
