Tottenham News: Joe Hart issues apology for Instagram gaffe after UEL exit

According to latest news from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Joe Hart has issued an apology for his huge social media gaffe after the team’s Europa League exit.

Tottenham were sent crashing out of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night. Dinamo Zagreb overcame a two-goal first-leg deficit to beat Spurs 3-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate, courtesy of a hat-trick from Mislav Orsic.

While the events on the field were horrific, some things went down on social media that will not have gone down too well with fans.

In the aftermath of the defeat, senior goalkeeper Joe Hart, who was on the bench against Zagreb and saw the defeat, posted a picture on Instagram with the scoreline and a caption that read “Job Done”.  The post was immediately taken off, but not before it had been circulated.

Taking to the same social media profile, Hart posted a video in which he has issued an apology on behalf of his social media team.

“Morning guys. I feel like I need to come on and make an apology on behalf of my social media team. It has just been brought to my attention, I’ve literally just woke up, that someone thought that we’d won 3-0 last night.

“As sloppy as it sounds, it’s the truth. Posted ‘job done’. That’s unacceptable and I’m sure it’s annoyed a lot of people and I’m sorry it’s come to that. It’s obviously not come from me and I’ve got nothing but love for the club and support for the team.”

“I’m just as down as the boys are, so apologies. Unfortunately, its happened but just know it didn’t come from any other place other than a typo. Have a great day.”

The defeat meant Tottenham’s hopes of making it to the UEFA Champions League for the next season took a hit. As things stand. the club is not in a position to finish in the top four in the league.
