Agent of Tottenham star Gareth Bale clarifies client’s recent comments
According to the Evening Standard, Jonathan Barnett, the agent of on-loan Tottenham star Gareth Bale has responded to recent comments made by the Welshman over his future.
Bale returned to Tottenham last summer, signing on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. After having endured a difficult start to life back in London, the winger was starting to show signs of form over the past month or so.
This sparked speculations that Tottenham might consider signing him on a permanent basis. Bale, though, poured cold water on such hopes, claiming that he came to Spurs only for a season, so that he could get fit for the Euros, adding that he never had a plan of staying beyond the current season.
“Going into the Euros I wanted to be match-fit. The original plan was to do a season at Spurs and after the Euros still have a year left at Real Madrid. My plan is to go back, that’s as far I have planned.”
Clarifying the Welsh wing wizard’s comments, his agent, Barnett, has claimed that they were taken out of context. He further added that it is too soon to be able to talk about the 31-year-old’s future.
“There’s no timescale [on a decision]. He is just concentrating on now.”

Bale has done reasonably well of late. But, signing him on a permanent basis, given his humungous wages, wouldn’t have been the best idea. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Welshman. But, a return to Tottenham for another spell looks highly unlikely.
