Tottenham star Harry Kane hits out at ’embarrassing’ team attitude prior to Aston Villa win

According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane has lashed out at the team’s ’embarrassing’ attitude prior to the international break.

Tottenham endured a week to forget leading up to the first international break of 2021. The Lilywhites succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to local rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby at the Emirates. That was followed by a meek surrender against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Europa League, leading to Spurs’ elimination from the tournament.

Tottenham did manage to return to winning ways in their final match prior to the break, defeating Aston Villa 2-0 with goals from Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane.

The England captain, however, has expressed his disappointment at the way Tottenham carried themselves prior to the victory over Aston Villa.

“We know we dropped below our standards and the worst part of that is probably our attitude, in terms of how were on the pitch. You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.

“We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that. It’s a shame because we were on a good run before that, but we did a really good job at Villa and bounced back in the right way.”

Kane went on to add that the team must need to reproduce the same kind of performance from the Villa game week in week out and not make it a one-off thing.

“That’s what we need, and it’s not just for one game, it can’t be like a switch, on and off, it needs to be every game we play in.”

Kane has been in tremendous form this season. So far across all competitions, he has 27 goals and 16 assists.
