Transfer News: Tottenham prepare to sell Dele Alli for £25m in the summer
According to news from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offload Dele Alli in the summer for a transfer fee of just £25m.
The 24-year-old Alli has been at Tottenham Hotspur since 2015, having arrived from lower league club MK Dons. The English midfielder went on to establish himself as a key player under former manager Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs rose to great heights.
However, since the last season, Alli has been on a steep decline. While things did look up for him early in Jose Mourinho’s tenure, it would prove to be a false dawn as he soon found himself frozen out by the Portuguese.
Alli, as a result, had been linked with an exit in the summer but a move did not materialise. The same thing repeated during the January transfer window as well, but chairman Daniel Levy dug his heels in and refused a sale, even though it upset Mourinho.
Levy denied an exit as PSG, who were keen on Alli weren’t willing to meet Spurs’ £3m loan fee demand. Also, the report adds that the Tottenham chairman preferred an outright sale over a loan exit, for a fee of £45m.
However, with Alli’s fortunes failing to improve since that period, there is an acceptance within the club that he could be let go of in the summer transfer window. And, as things stand, Tottenham would be open to letting him leave for a fee as little as £25m, just a little more than half of what they were hoping to get for him in January.

Alli’s situation at Tottenham is hard to see. Without a doubt, he is a gifted player, who at the moment, is going through a period of low confidence. The manner in which he has been treated by the manager will have hit him harder as well. And it seems like an exit could very well be on the cards in the summer.
