Transfer News: Tottenham target Gabriel Menino set to be sold for €15-€20 million
According to Spanish news publication Mundo Deportivo, Palmeiras are prepared to sell midfielder Gabriel Menino, who is a Tottenham target, for a transfer fee of €15-€20m.
Menino, 20, came through the youth ranks at Brazilian outfit Palmeiras and made his first-team breakthrough last year. Since then, the midfielder has gone on to rack up 59 senior appearances, scoring four goals and setting up seven more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
A central midfielder by trade, Menino is a versatile player who can play at right-back, right-wing, attacking midfield as well as left-midfield. This versatility and flexibility, coupled with the potential that he has shown have led to interest from a host of clubs from Europe.
Recently, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid had been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old. Now, news are claiming that Tottenham too are showing transfer interest in Menino. (h/t TeamTalk)
And it is now being claimed that Palmeiras are determined to cash in on the midfielder while he is in demand. To that end, the Brazilian giants have slapped a valuation of €15-€20m on the midfield ace.
Someone like Menino, given his potential and room for development, can grow into an ideal midfield partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. This would also allow Jose Mourinho to use someone like Tanguy Ndombele higher up the pitch while cutting down the reliance on ineffective stars such as Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks.
