Tottenham touted as a possible destination for Massimiliano Allegri

According to Italian publication Tuttosport (h/ Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in the services of Italian manager Massimiliano Allegri.

One of the most successful managers in the recent history of the Italian Serie A, Allegri has been without a job since 2019 when he quit Juventus after having won multiple league titles with them. Prior to that, the Italian tactician had tasted success with AC Milan as well.

Given his free agency, Tottenham had been linked with a move for Allegri back when Mauricio Pochettino had been sacked in November 2019. While the ex-Juventus boss was a target, Spurs settled in on Jose Mourinho in order to bring quick success to the club.

However, it has been a rocky road back in London for the former Chelsea manager. There have been positives but there have been as many negatives as well, if not more. And following the Europa League debacle against Dinamo Zagreb last week, the pressure on Mourinho has amplified a great deal.

Replacements are being drawn up already if reports are to be believed, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers linked with the post. Now, it is claimed that Allegri could also be a target for Daniel Levy & co. at the end of the season if Mourinho is given the sack.

If at all Mourinho is shown the doors come the end of the season, there are few better options out there than Allegri. A tactically astute manager, the Italian has tasted success at Milan and Juventus and can take the team to great heights.
