Tottenham don’t have the finances to sign Paulo Dybala, claims Alasdair Gold
Speaking on his Youtube channel, reputed journalist Alasdair Gold has delivered his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala in the summer.
The 27-year-old has been a target for Tottenham Hotspur in the long run, with the club having tried and failed to sign him in the summer of 2019. However, with his contract winding down in a year, Dybala has once again emerged as a transfer target for Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window. (h/t Express)
Indeed, it has been claimed that Tottenham are ‘really trying’ to secure the services of the Argentine international before the next season kicks off.
Gold, however, insists that Tottenham just don’t have the finances to be able to fund a move for Dybala, who is likely to cost a big sum despite entering the final year of his contract at the end of the season.
“Paulo Dybala is obviously a player Spurs have liked in the past. A talented player, but what I would say is finance-wise, Spurs would have to raise a lot of money to buy him, even though his contract is getting towards its end. I still think in terms of the money that would be required to buy him, it would be a lot.”
The Football.london correspondent then went on to add that the only way Tottenham could move for the Argentine would be offloading a big player this summer.
“I don’t know whether reports are lobbing him in there because of previous interest or what, but finance-wise, there are other priorities right now. I’d love to see Dybala at Tottenham, but you’d have to lose a mega-player to have the funds to bring in Dybala.”

Gold is pretty much reliable when it comes to most things Tottenham. And, given the club’s financial situation it does seem a bit difficult to sign someone like Dybala in the summer. But if he is signed, the Argentine would be a brilliant addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad.
