Transfer News: Tottenham ready to sell Harry Winks amid La Liga interest

According to news from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to let go of midfielder Harry Winks in the summer amid transfer interest from a number of La Liga clubs including Atletico Madrid.

Winks, 25, came through the youth ranks at Tottenham and made his first-team breakthrough under Mauricio Pochettino. Having been a regular for the most part of the last few seasons, Winks had also become a permanent fixture in the England national team.

However, he hasn’t had the same level of trust shown by Jose Mourinho, who has used the midfielder sparingly this season. Indeed, Winks has featured just 10 times in the Premier League this season and finds himself staring at an uncertain future at the club.

La Liga side Valencia had made an attempt to sign him last summer while also trying to land him in January as well, along with Everton. Mourinho, however, refused to sanction a deal, insisting that the 25-year-old would play a role in his plans.

But, with that not materialising, it seems like Tottenham will let Winks secure a transfer away in the summer. And, the England international has no shortage of suitors as Valencia, Sevilla, as well as La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid are all keen on signing him, along with Everton in the Premier League.

The report adds that Winks could be available for £15m to £20m, with Oliver Skipp’s rapid development on loan at Norwich City playing a key role in Spurs’ decision to sell him.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

It now remains to be seen if Harry Winks remains a Tottenham player beyond the current season or not. An exit does seem like the best solution for all parties involved given as he is clearly not a big part of Mourinho’s plans. And selling him would boost Tottenham’s transfer funds to sign the club’s desired targets.
