Transfer News: Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign Diego Carlos
According to transfer news from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has his sights set on Sevilla defender Diego Carlos ahead of the summer window.
The 28-year-old Carlos joined Sevilla only last season and has quickly become a key member of the side. In fact, the Brazilian was an ever-present in the side, along with current Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon, as Sevilla went on to win the UEFA Europa League last season.
And Carlos has continued in the same vein of form this season as well, establishing himself as one of the top centre-backs in La Liga. His growth has caught the eyes of Tottenham boss Mourinho who is intent on securing a new, top centre-back at the earliest.
The report states that the Portuguese tactician was furious with his team after the 2-2 draw with Newcastle this past weekend. Spurs allowed the Magpies to score a late goal leading to dropped points.
Mourinho is said to have lashed out at his defenders after the game, soon after which he also rang up Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to request the signing of a new centre-back in the summer. And it is claimed that the Tottenham boss has his eyes on a transfer for Diego Carlos.
Jose is of the belief that Carlos would be an ideal fit for his team and would also enhance the performances of those around him, as per the report.

Carlos, at 28, is in the peak years of his career. The Brazilian has shown in the past couple of years at Sevilla that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level and can be a fine addition for us. However, it now remains to be seen if Levy decides to grant Mourinho his wish and sign the defender.
