Transfer News: Tottenham laying the groundwork to sign Marcel Sabitzer

According to news from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to secure the transfer of RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has grown into one of the best central midfielders in Bundesliga in recent seasons, helping RB Leipzig achieve great heights. Indeed, Sabitzer was a permanent fixture in the side that finished second in the league and made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Sabitzer has enjoyed another similarly fruitful campaign, with his club once again sitting second in the table, with a narrow chance of winning the title. His rise in stature with the German outfit has led to a serious interest in the midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, the report claims that Tottenham had made initial contact over a summer transfer back in January itself and have continued to follow his progress keenly ever since. Manager Jose Mourinho is said to have taken a personal interest in the matter, as he wants to secure the Austrian’s transfer in the summer.

Mourinho, as per the report, believes that Sabitzer has the ‘energy, physicality and technical ability’ to be the perfect addition to his team. To that end, Tottenham have started laying in the groundwork to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old.

He has the ability to be the perfect partner in the middle of the park for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at Tottenham. It now remains to be seen if we are able to get a deal over the line.
