Transfer News: Tottenham interested in Sevilla goalkeeper Bono
According to news from El Gol Digital, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a transfer move for 30-year-old Sevilla goalkeeper Bono in the summer.
The Moroccan international has been with Sevilla since 2019, having initially joined on loan from fellow La Liga club Girona. In his first season at the club, Bono was a regular fixture in the Europa League as Sevilla went on to win the competition.
Following that, his transfer was made permanent and the 30-year-old has become the first-choice goalkeeper at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this term. However, Sevilla are set to sign Marko Dmitrovic from SD Eibar in the summer transfer window.
And this development hasn’t gone too well with Bono, who has now requested that he be sanctioned an exit at the end of the campaign. This development seems to have alerted, Tottenham, who are on the lookout for a replacement for Hugo Lloris, as per the report.
The Spurs’ captain will be entering the final year of his contract with the club at the end of the season. And while he’s still capable of top-class performances, like the one against Newcastle this past weekend, the Frenchman has also shown signs of decline in the recent past, making some errors that have hurt the team.
Jose Mourinho, however, recently clarified that he has no intentions of bringing in a new goalkeeper in the summer. He even went on to call Lloris the best goalkeeper in England. (h/t Football.london)

So, the reported interest in Bono is unlikely to lead to anything substantial as things stand. Even if the club did seek a replacement for Lloris this summer, there are many other, better and younger options that Mourinho & co. could look to bring in.
