Transfer News: Andrea Pirlo reveals Paulo Dybala contract stance amid Tottenham Hotspur rumours
Talking to Sky Sports Italia (h/t Metro) after his team’s win over Napoli, Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo spoke of his desire to keep a hold of Paulo Dybala despite his links with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old was sidelined with a serious knee injury since mid-January but he made a goal-scoring return against Napoli. His goal off the bench proved to be the winning strike in a 2-1 victory for The Old Lady.
Dybala’s return comes after talks of him joining the Premier League at the end of the current season. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea have been touted as his possible destinations. (h/t Metro)
And fuel was added to this fire recently when Juventus fined Dybala for attending an illegal party with Weston McKennie and Arthur Melo that broke the Covid-19 regulations.
No deal?
The Argentine international’s current contract at Juve runs out in just over a year. But Pirlo says that he hopes to keep the former Palermo striker in Turin for a little while longer.
“When you have a player like Dybala at your disposal, you always try to let him play. We’ve almost never had him. When you miss someone like this, it becomes difficult, and when he comes back he helps you win. He still has a year on his contract. We hope to be able to keep him.”
Spurs could really use someone like Dybala. He is just 27 years old and has a handful of years at the top still remaining.

Son Heung-min to pen new Tottenham contract before next season
Not to mention, the future of Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane remains up in the air. And even if both stay put at the club next season, having someone like Dybala would massively help in taking the load off Son Heung-min and Kane’s shoulders.
