Transfer News: Tottenham in concrete talks to sign Jerome Boateng
According to news from Sky Sports Germany, Tottenham Hotspur have held concrete talks with Jerome Boateng over a potential transfer at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old Boateng plies his trade with record German champions Bayern Munich. He joined the Bavarian giants in the summer of 2011 after a failed stint in England with Manchester City. During his time at the Allianz Stadium, the towering centre-back has been integral to their unmatched success in Bundesliga.
However, Boateng’s time with Bayern Munich will come to an end this summer with his contract expiring. And the club have confirmed that there will be no new deal offered, meaning the 32-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the ongoing season. (h/t Express)
This development has seen Boateng attract admirers across the continent, with Tottenham Hotspur also said to be one among the clubs wanting to sign him, along with La Liga giants Barcelona. (h/t Sky Sports Germany)
In fact, the report goes on to add that Tottenham have already held concrete talks with the defender with Boateng and his camp over the possibility of a transfer before the next season.
At 32, Boateng is entering the final years of his career. But his experience and the fact that he will be available on a free transfer does make him an appealing target for Tottenham.
