Transfer News: Tottenham target Marcel Sabitzer drops exit hints
According to news outlet Laola1 (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham transfer target Marcel Sabitzer has dropped a hint that he could leave RB Leipzig in the summer.
One of the best central midfielders on display in the Bundesliga over the past couple of years, the Austrian international has emerged as a top transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho heading into the summer window. (h/t Football Insider)
What works in Tottenham’s favour is the fact that Sabitzer is entering the final year of his contract with RB Leipzig, leaving his future up in the air. The Bundesliga outfit do not want to lose him on a free transfer, leading to the possibility of an exit this summer.
And, that is something that Sabitzer hinted towards in his recent interview, with the Austrian international admitting that this may be the last big move he gets in his career.
“There is nothing against it, but nothing for it either. I am relatively neutral. I know that I am at an age where it may be the last step. That’s why I let it go through my head.”
Sabitzer, at 27, is in the peak years of his career. The midfielder is a versatile player who can operate in a box-to-box role or a holding role while also adept at playing out wide on the right. A consistent source of goals and assists as well, he would complement our midfield mainstay Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg brilliantly.

The report adds that Mourinho is hugely fascinated by Sabitzer. And judging by the midfielder’s comments, an exit seems to be very much on his mind. Hopefully, Tottenham are able to clinch his signing in the summer.
