Transfer News: Tottenham line up move for Sasa Kalajdzic
According to exclusive news from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a summer transfer move for Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic who plays for Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.
Kalajdzic, 23, spent the early parts of his career in his homeland, Austria, before making the switch to Stuttgart in 2019. In his debut season in Germany, the towering striker helped the club earn promotion to the Bundesliga.
In his first-ever campaign in the Bundesliga this term, Kalajdzic has impressed heavily, banging in 14 goals and 4 assists from 27 outings. Besides, he also has one goal from his three appearances in the DFB-Pokal. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Kalajdzic, as per the report, has been on Tottenham’s radar for quite some time now. The club have been monitoring him closely and are now planning to step up their interest by exploring the possibility of a summer move and the transfer fee that may be involved.
As things stand, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of star striker Harry Kane. However, Tottenham will continue to ignore that and are eyeing Kalajdzic as more of a backup for the England captain with Carlos Vinicius’ loan deal coming to an end in a couple of months. The 23-year-old has been likened to former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch due to his towering frame and is the tallest player in the Bundesliga this season. A proper target man, Kalajdzic also has good technical abilities which would make him a fine fit in Jose Mourinho’s team.
As per the report, the Austrian is also being courted by a number of other clubs like AS Roma, RB Leipzig as well as our London rivals West Ham United. It is claimed that Kalajdzic could be available for a transfer fee of around £15m.
