Man City star John Stones set to miss Carabao Cup final vs Tottenham

According to Football.london, Manchester City have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Carabao Cup final clash against Tottenham as John Stones is set to miss the game.

Tottenham Hotspur face off against Manchester City in the final of the League Cup on Sunday, with a hope of ending their long-drawn trophy drought. The last trophy that the club lifted was indeed the League Cup back in 2008, beating London rivals Chelsea.

Sunday provides Tottenham & co. put an end to the 13-year run without any silverware. And heading into the game, the Lilywhites have been handed a boost as Manchester City are set to be without a key player for the contest.

John Stones, who has enjoyed an amazing resurgence this year, is set to miss out for Manchester City after he was sent off for a rash challenge on Jacob Ramsey during their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday. As a result of that, the England international will now face a three-game ban, effectively ruling him out of the Carabao Cup final later this week.

Stones has been with Manchester City for four years now. Having somewhat lost his way over the past couple of seasons, the former Everton man has rediscovered his best form this term, establishing himself as a mainstay at the back alongside Ruben Dias.

However, the rash moment at Villa Park means Stones will be unavailable for selection on Sunday. But it’s not like City don’t have cover for the England international given that the likes of Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are ready to step in to the side.
