Blow for Tottenham as Julian Nagelsmann agrees terms with Bayern Munich
According to Sky Sports, Julian Nagelsmann, who had bee among the managerial candidates for the Tottenham job, as agreed terms over a summer move to Bayern Munich.
Tottenham relieved Jose Mourinho of his managerial duties last Monday following a disappointing run of results since mid-December last year. Former midfielder Ryan Mason was handed over the reins on an interim basis up until the end of the season.
As far as permanent replacements for Mourinho went, the search has been going on with full fervour. Nagelsmann, who is currently the manager of RB Leipzig, had been touted as one of the top contenders for the Tottenham job. (h/t Sky Sports)
And, the interest made a lot of sense, given how brilliantly the German has done with Leipzig as well as his former club TSG Hoffenheim despite being just 33 years old. Regarded as one of the brightest young tactical minds in the game, Nagelsmann’s teams are known to play attacking brand of football, which would have been very much welcome at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Mourinho’s pragmatic reign.
However, Spurs’ hopes of bringing in the RB Leipzig manager at the end of the season have now been dashed as Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement with him to join the club.
This development comes after current Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick asked for his contract to be terminated when the current season gets over. And the German champions have now acted in a quick manner to get the deal over the line and secure Nagelsmann’s services.
The deal is now subject to Bayern agreeing a fee with RB Leipzig, who are demanding a record sum of €25m for his services.

As iterated earlier, Nagelsmann would have been a fine choice to fill in the vacant manager’s slot. However, with that unlikely to be an option now, it remains to be seen who the club decides to go after.
