Darren Bent wants to see Eddie Howe as Tottenham manager
According to Glasgow Live, Darren Bent wants Tottenham to go after Eddie Howe. The former Spurs striker feels that the club should try their best to go after Howe amidst interest from Celtic. Currently, Howe is not involved with any club after leaving Bournemouth last year.
Tottenham relieved Jose Mourinho of his managerial duties last Monday following a disappointing run of results since mid-December last year. Former midfielder Ryan Mason has been handed over the reins on an interim basis up until the end of the season.
As far as permanent replacements for Mourinho are concerned, the search has been going on with full fervour. However, top targets such as Julian Nagelsman and Brendan Rodgers are proving difficult to get.
Nagelsmann was appointed as Bayern Munich manager today while Brendan Rodgers has distanced himself from the links. However, Darren Bent has suggested a rather left-field name for Spurs to appoint.
“(Fulham boss) Scott Parker would be a good one, I like him. But I really like Eddie Howe. I like the way he plays football and he did a fantastic job at Bournemouth. He’s available. Spurs did the Mauricio Pochettino thing where he rebuilt the club, got them playing really exciting football and got them to a Champions League final. But then they got to that four/five-year cycle where I think if Daniel Levy had invested a little bit more I think Spurs could’ve gone on…
“They need to start again. When I say start again I mean play that brand of exciting football and get someone who’s really hands-on coaching-wise. I would really like Eddie Howe to get the Spurs job.”

Bent is right in suggesting Howe’s name given how he managed to push a side like Bournemouth from obscurity to Premier League status. Howe can be trusted to build the side with a long-term vision. However, his lack of experience managing a bigger side works against him. Nonetheless, Howe might just be a good choice if Spurs want to take a punt.
