Tottenham superstar Harry Kane breaks silence after Carabao Cup final defeat

Taking to Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane sent out a message to the fans following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Tottenham had an excellent chance to end the club’s 13-year-long trophy drought this past Sunday when we faced Manchester City in the finals of the League Cup – the same trophy that the team last won back in 2008.

However, what could have been a special night at the Wembley Stadium ended in heartbreak as Manchester City beat Tottenham 1-0 courtesy of a late goal from Aymeric Laporte. In the process, the Cityzens won their fourth Carabao Cup in a row while Spurs’ wait for a trophy will now drag on for another year.

It was a dull display from Tottenham with none of the players barring Hugo Lloris and, to an extent, Lucas Moura, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld, showing the intent and the desire. Even Harry Kane, who was rushed back from an ankle injury for the big finals, had an underwhelming game.

Having picked up the injury against Everton in Jose Mourinho’s last game in charge Kane had missed the midweek clash against Southampton. But he made himself available for selection on Sunday, started, but failed to deliver a single shot throughout the game.

Following the disappointing performance and result, the England captain took to Twitter on Monday to share his thoughts on what was next for the team.

“Yesterday was tough to take we gave it our all but came up short. Can just focus on five massive games to go in the league. Brilliant to have had fans back in the stadium.”
