Tottenham Hotspur interested in Wolfsburg manager Oliver Glasner as potential Jose Mourinho replacement
Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari for Sportitalia TV (h/t Express) states that Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Wolfsburg manager, Oliver Glasner.
This news comes after Tottenham missed out on Julian Nagelsmann. The RB Leipzig coach signed a deal with Bayern Munich earlier this week as the Bavarians agreed on a £25million fee for him.
Spurs fired Jose Mourinho six days before the Carabao Cup final earlier in April. And since then, they have been managed by the 29-year-old Ryan Mason, who is set to serve as an interim manager until the end of this season.
There a number of other candidates to replace Mourinho at N17 but one of them, Brendan Rodgers, denied the chance to meet Daniel Levy. The Leicester City boss wants to continue building his legacy at the King Power stadium. (h/t Express)
Another name added
The report adds that Scott Parker, Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo, and Roberto Martinez are some of the other names linked with the job. And Glasner’s name is now added to it.
The 46-year-old Austrian manager has led his Wolfsburg team to 3rd place in the Bundesliga table and faces a race to finish in the top-4 this season. Spurs, on the other hand, may not be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Mason’s men are 7th in the table, 5 points away from Chelsea in 4th place with just 5 games to go in the season. If Spurs can pull off a miracle and manage to finish in the top 4, it would definitely raise the club’s stocks.

Top managers, like players, would want to manage a club in the UEFA Champions League. But if Spurs miss out, then Levy has a big job of finding the right candidate to take the club back to Europe’s biggest club competition.
