Taking to Instagram, Tottenham Hotspur superstar Gareth Bale has broken his silence for the first time after the club lost the Carabao Cup final last weekend.

Tottenham squared off against Manchester City in the finals of the Carabao Cup at the Wembley Stadium last Sunday, hoping to bring an end to their 13-year long trophy-less run. However, that was not to be as the Cityzens dominated the game from start to end, defeating us 1-0.

The scoreline would have been much worse if not for Hugo Lloris in goal and some sharp defending by Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier. That defeat meant Tottenham will end the 2020/21 campaign without a trophy, extending the drought further.

Bale was not part of the starting XI against Manchester City at Wembley. Instead, the Welshman, who is currently on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid, came on as a substitute in the second half but failed to spark the team. The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min also endured a difficult outing, which culminated in a heartbreaking defeat.

Four days after the loss, Bale has posted a message for the fans on his social media account, which read:

“Difficult one to take on Sunday. We regroup for the final few games of the season. Thanks for your support .”

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, signing on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. The Welshman has had a stop-start season, often looking bright but struggling with fitness and injury problems. Nonetheless, it would have been nice to see him lift a trophy at the club but it was not to be.

The aim for the team should now be to finish in the top four of the Premier League, with a game against relegated Sheffield United up next.
