Transfer News: Tottenham register interest in Max Aarons

According to transfer news update from Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have registered an interest in signing Norwich City right-back Max Aarons in the summer.

Aarons is a product of the Canaries youth academy. The right-back played an integral role in their promotion-winning 2018/19 season and was one of their standout performers during the 2019/20 season in the Premier League which ended in relegation.

Back in the Championship, Aarons has once again excelled, and has been a key component of Daniel Farke’s side who won the second division title and are set to return to the Premier League.

Aarons’ progress and development at Carrow Road has led to transfer interest from a number of clubs, with Tottenham also among those keen on the England U-21 international.

The right-back situation at Tottenham is a bit concerning. The club splashed the cash on Matt Doherty last summer but he has proven to be a major dud signing. Serge Aurier, meanwhile, continues to blow hot and cold. In addition, the Ivorian’s contract is up for expiry in a year, casting doubts over his future at the club.

So, bolstering the right side of the defence could become imperative for Daniel Levy & co. next summer. And securing the transfer of Aarons, who is likely to cost around £30m, would be a step in the right direction.

The report adds that Norwich would be open to letting the 21-year-old leave if their demands are met as they had a gentleman’s agreement with Aarons last summer.

However, Tottenham are not alone in pursuit of Aarons with Premier League rivals Arsenal said to be interested as well. In fact, the Toffees have the financial muscle to outbid Spurs, the report goes on to add.

Young, dynamic and with some exposure to Premier League football, Aarons has the potential to be a handy acquisition for us. However, any move would likely hinge on who is named the manager of the team.
