Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini denies contact with Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Fabrizio Romano via Twitter), Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has denied that there have been any talks between him and Tottenham Hotspur regarding the vacant position of a permanent manager at the club.
Spurs parted ways with Jose Mourinho last month and have appointed Ryan Mason as the caretaker manager until the end of the season. While Mourinho has since gone on to agree terms with AS Roma, Tottenham’s search for a new boss continues.
One of the names in the fray was that of Italian veteran Gian Piero Gasperini who has a wealth of experience managing in Italy. The former Inter Milan boss, now in charge of Atalanta has helped transform them into Champions League regulars. They are currently on course to finish second in the top flight this season.

An established manager who makes use of free-flowing attacking football, Gasperini is certainly an intriguing choice. However, he has now gone on to admit that there have been no contact with Spurs let alone talks.
He went on to add that he is happy at Atalanta and it would appear he looks set to stay there. Whether any future approach can help change his mind remains to be seen. He will have better resources at his disposal in North London and may relish the opportunity for one last run in the big time.
