Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl addresses Danny Ings future amid Tottenham interest
According to Hampshire Live, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has claimed that he believes star striker Danny Ings will sign a new contract and stay at the club amid Tottenham interest.
Tottenham could be in desperate need of a prolific goalscorer come summer if a recent report by Sky Sports is to be believed. The said update claims that superstar Harry Kane has informed Spurs that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season.
If true, this will be a huge blow for Tottenham given that Kane has been the best player for the Lilywhites for over half-a-decade now. Indeed, the England captain has been enjoying a terrific 2020/21 campaign on a personal note, blasting 32 goals and 16 assists in all competitions so far.
However, come the end of the season, it could also be the end of the road for Kane and Tottenham. In such a scenario, it becomes imperative that the club has plans in place to replace the academy graduate in the summer. One player that has been linked with Spurs for a while now is Southampton’s Ings.
The England striker has rediscovered his best at St. Mary’s after his injury-riddled stint at Liverpool. Furthermore, with his contract expiring in a year, he could be available on the cheap come summer. Saints’ boss Hasenhuttl, though, has stated that he fully expects Ings to commit his future to the club.
“I have always been confident. I know what it means for him to play for his club, and what it means to the supporters that he plays for us. As long as we have this relationship, I think it is positive that he stays with us.”

Ings can be a handy addition to the attack for Tottenham, provided he is able to stay fit. But with Hasenhuttl confident that the Englishman will sign a new contract at Southampton, Spurs would be better off looking elsewhere.
